My name is Hannah Capps and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles, CA. I provide therapy to clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults (18+) and specialize in treatment for depression, anxiety, and ADHD, as well as coping with life's stressors, big and small.
My approach
I tailor my approach to each client and their needs- however, in general, I tend to draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Somatic Therapy. I believe in using a supportive, eclectic approach to meet clients wherever they may be, and providing both short-term coping strategies and teaming up with my client to work toward long-term change.
My focus
I work with adults of any age- I have experience working with older adults, but also enjoy working with young adults as they deal with life transitions. I have worked extensively with depression, anxiety disorders, self-esteem concerns, and stress.
My communication style
I work to create a warm and welcoming environment where clients can come as they are. I strive to provide a non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to discuss potentially difficult topics. I believe in the importance of self-determination and a collaborative relationship between the client and therapist.
My journey to mental healthcare
As cliched as it sounds, I have always been passionate about helping others and social work has provided a pathway to do that. I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health for someone's overall wellness and that everyone has a right to live happy and fulfilling lives. I feel privileged to be able to team up with people from all walks of life and work together on them being able to live the lives they want to.
My goals for you
I like to approach goal-setting by exploring what a client would like to change or be different in their day-to-day lives, and working collaboratively to create specific, positive, and attainable goals for treatment. Goals are set by clients- I am just here to help.
My first session with you
I use the first session as a time to get to know the client, learn more about them and what brings them to therapy at this time, and begin to establish a therapeutic relationship by discussing expectations for care and answering any questions a client might have about therapy. This introductory session allows me to learn about the client so I can guide treatment in the most helpful way- I don't want to make any assumptions about clients and their needs.
