My name is Jerrica Arrington and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. I have worked in the mental health profession since 2003 and my experience ranges from crisis and case management, gerontology, and inpatient and outpatient treatment, and I practice from a trauma-informed standpoint.
My approach
I trained in Grief therapy and I am knowledgeable in the skills of DBT, CBT, Gestalt therapy, narrative techniques, Client-centered therapy, and Christ-based therapy. My experience includes working with individuals suffering from Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Psychosis, Mania, and client-centered therapy.
My focus
My client focus is any individual willing to work through treatment to heal wounds caused by trauma, genetic loading, and mental health symptoms. After several years of working in crisis, I am comfortable with assisting those who may be struggling with helplessness/hopelessness.
My communication style
I am direct, and humanistic, and I meet the patients where they are.
My journey to therapy
I initially worked as a mental health case manager at the age of 21 after obtaining my Bachelor's Degree. After a short time working for child protective services I determined that I wanted to be able to help families stay together and be more active in treatment. I then changed my major/courses to work on My Master's in Counseling after completing a Masters in Education without the credential.
My goals for you
I simply ask clients what they would like to obtain from treatment and I work with them where they are to assist them in achieving their goals.
My first session with you
We will complete an assessment where I gather information. I then request the clients share what they would like to work on and ensure that their goals are being met. I provide an opportunity for the client to get to know me as well to determine if we are a good fit. If the client believes that they find me suitable we discuss scheduling.
