Hi there, I'm Alyssa!

Hello! My name is Alyssa Alonzo, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, CA. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I identify as Mexican-American. I have spent most of my career working in community mental health, and have experience working with children, teens, and adults to treat various presenting problems and issues, including depression, anxiety, and trauma. I specialize in working with survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), which can involve physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. I have extensive training and experience working with the LBGTQIA+ population, including attending and facilitating workshops at or affiliated with, the Los Angeles LGBTQ Center. My passion is utilizing animal-assisted interventions in therapy, and my therapy dog Layla might even make an appearance in our video sessions! I am committed to working through a trauma-informed, culturally attuned lens, and taking an eclectic approach to my interventions and case conceptualization. I am certified in Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but also implement attachment-based and solution-focused modalities. I hope this gives a good snapshot of who I am and how I work.
