I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and I have been working in the counseling field since 2010. I have experience working in Child Welfare, non-profit, and private practice settings with individuals, couples, families, and groups who are experiencing a wide range of challenges. Much of my experience has been dedicated to helping those affected by trauma. My experience with this hurting population spans over 12 years. I am trained in Trauma-Informed Practice and have assisted individuals and families in overcoming barriers to personal emotional and psychological safety. Every individual has strengths—I help individuals to address worries and challenges while identifying strengths to expand and develop skills and solutions to achieve overall well-being. I believe in helping others realize how trauma and challenges have affected their life and how to look beyond the problem to the possibilities of a peaceful now. I enjoy working with others on their journey to becoming the best version of themselves.
My approach
I believe in approaching therapy using the best and most appropriate approach for each individual client. I commonly use CBT, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and narrative and experiential therapy in my interventions. I work with clients to develop personalized interventions to meet individual needs and goals.
My focus
I work with a wide variety of clients including minors, adults, and couples. I have extensive experience working with clients who have experienced trauma of all types. I enjoy supporting clients in addressing their worries and creating a preferred future.
My communication style
I am open and transparent with communication in therapy. Therapy is a great place to learn, develop and practice communication skills that may be difficult or uncomfortable. I create a safe environment for clients to address their worries and develop communication that is confident and clear in content and delivery.
My journey to therapy
I knew I wanted to become a therapist when I was in therapy with a therapist I really connected with when I was 15. The experience I had in therapy inspired me to want to help others create the life they want to live!
My goals for you
I approach goal setting from the perspective that the client is the expert on their own life. I work with clients on identifying what they would like to be different and looking for plans and solutions based on what is already working well in a client’s experience. I believe in setting goals that are client-focused and where progress can be sustained and maintained over time.
My first session with you
In the first session, clients should expect to be welcome into the therapy process. Clients will complete an assessment, identify areas that they want to work on, and develop a plan and goals that will be the focus of the therapeutic journey.
