Hello! I am Jackeline Balarezo- Ruvalcaba. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
My approach
I am passionate about helping individuals from all walks of life. I like to set clear goals with clients and meet them where they are. I am empathetic and I am great at listening and letting clients know that I am there to help meet their needs. I work with adults and adolescents and I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief and loss using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (or “CBT”).
My focus
My focus is always on empowering my clients to become self-reliant by teaching them coping skills, showing them how to identify and manage their individual triggers and stressors, and helping them develop a positive outlook on life by teaching them how to see their strengths and address their triggers.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, friendly, and personable. I always provide an open space for clients to express themselves free of judgment or guilt. I always listen first and aspire to help clients see their troubles from different perspectives. And I always appreciate them confiding in me.
My journey to therapy
I have always enjoyed talking and listening to people from an early age. As a Latinx immigrant, I am acutely aware of the struggles within the Latino/a community in addressing their mental health needs. The challenges I faced in this country made me want to help others like me. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping individuals through advocacy or by helping them through their personal struggles. I now have over 13 years of experience working with families, adults, children, and adolescents, including those in the foster care system.
My goals for you
My approach to setting goals with clients is to work together on making the most suitable goals to address their most pressing needs. I make sure our goals are realistic so as to not set clients up for failure and I am very forthright about setting appropriate goals. I also believe strongly in working together to achieve these goals. In the end, seeing clients make real progress towards each of their goals is a great joy shared all involved in this team effort!
My first session with you
I believe it is very important for me to start by getting to know the client. This helps me in identifying their needs as well as the underlying issues. It is just as important for me to build rapport with my clients so that they feel comfortable with opening up to me. My clients usually walk away from this first session knowing they made the right choice in receiving therapy.
