Hi, my name is Katelyn Bailey and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Trauma, and Family Systems.
My training and professional background are in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Trauma, Expressive Arts Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.
I work with Adults ages 18-65 struggling with anxiety, depression, life stressors, or major transitions. I also work with couples and individuals struggling with relationship or family issues.
My communication style
My style of communication in therapy is gentle, compassionate, and direct. I work hard to help you feel safe, accepted, and understood while we work together. I will always allow you to go at your own pace and check in with you often to ensure that we are on the same page and that we are going at a pace that works for you.
My journey to therapy
As a therapist, I get to see my clients finally step into their worth after years of self-doubt, release shame and fear from the past because they have been able to grieve and put the pain behind them, step out in confidence because they have learned how to tame anxious thoughts about the future or the judgment of others, wake up and feel calm, confident and content in themselves. This is true freedom and it is what drives me to do this work.
My goals for you
To set goals for therapy I will ask you to describe your situation and how you would like to feel at the end of therapy. I will ask you what you would like to achieve and then I will offer feedback or suggestions to consider. Ultimately, you will choose the focus, direction, and pace of your sessions. However, as work progresses, it is common for goals to evolve or change so I will check in with you about every 10-12 weeks to make sure your goals still feel relevant and attainable.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will talk about what you would like to work on, your history, and a little bit about my background. We will also start to create some goals for therapy and I will offer you an outline of a plan to achieve those goals so you know what to expect. We will decide on a pace and a schedule and I will leave some time to discuss any concerns or resistance you might feel about starting therapy.
