My name is Alex Andrade-Lozano and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) from Fresno, California. Through Telehealth, I offer services throughout the state of California. I work with adults and couples and specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and trauma-related disorders. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I support clients on their journey of acceptance and change.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is primarily based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I work with clients to better understand their emotions and how to experience emotions in their daily lives. Clients will also learn skills that they can use to decrease stress and increase positive interactions with others. If Dialectical Behavior Therapy is not a fit, other therapeutic approaches are incorporated to meet the unique needs of clients.
My focus
My work focuses on the treatment of adults experiencing the effects of anxiety, depression, and trauma. I support adults working through the challenges of life including grief, parenting, and relationships. This work can also include the treatment of couples.
My communication style
My communication style with clients is authentic, empathetic, and respectful. I hope to create a safe environment that allows clients to do whatever work they desire, knowing that they are heard and understood.
My journey to mental healthcare
I knew I wanted to become a therapist during middle after attending therapy myself. I experienced for myself the positive effects of therapy and the support of a caring therapist and I knew I wanted to do the same with my life. I am continually inspired by the determination and work done by clients and honored to accompany clients on their therapeutic journey.
My goals for you
Goal setting is an ongoing process, between the client and me, that involves collaboration and communication. Ultimately, the client is in charge of deciding the direction of therapy and what it is they would like to achieve during our time together. I believe that my role as a therapist is to accompany, guide, and support clients on their therapeutic journey.
My first session with you
A first session is important for building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. In therapy, you are able to share without worrying about judgment. You will be welcomed to therapy and I will share about what you can expect during therapy and how therapy works. There will be time for you to share about what brings you to therapy and what are your expectations for therapy.
