Hi there, my name is Tina Thompson, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I am passionate about supporting my clients through challenges and joy in experiencing healing and transformation in their lives.
My approach is client-centered. I meet each client where they are at; I meet them with empathy, open-mindedness, and unconditional positive regard. I work in collaboration with clients to help them identify their path, priorities, and goals to help the therapy process be beneficial and a rewarding experience. This can be done through attachment-based therapy, client-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral CBT, compassion-focused, Gestalt, Humanistic, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative, Positive Psychology, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Strength Based Therapy.
I have experience working with Anger Management, Anxiety, Coping Skills, Depression, Impulsivity, Job Stress, Parenting, Self Harm, Trauma, ADD/ADHD, an LBGTQIA+ ally, Body positivity, and Breath Work.
My communication style
The space I strive to create for clients is grounded, relaxed, and accepting. The space is judgment free where trust and rapport can flourish.
My journey to mental healthcare
I think everyone deserves a judgment-free space to work through whatever struggles they are experiencing.
My goals for you
I like to meet clients where they are and to help them prioritize their goals to best fit into their daily lives. I believe when you change the way you think you can change the way you feel and act. I believe that the therapeutic process should be a highly personal and transformative experience. I value and trust the relational component of therapy and strive for my client to feel not only heard but also understood as an individual.
My first session with you
Curiosity with respect and compassion to help explore why the client is seeking therapy. Rapport building to help begin building trust and to get to know each other. I answer any questions they might have, and I go over the importance of HIPPA, an understanding of confidentiality, and how no-shows or late therapy sessions are handled.
