Hi there! My name is Leslie Godoy McCawley. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in working with young adults ages 17-26. The adulting journey can be an exciting time full of growth and possibilities but it can also be overwhelming and full of uncertainty. I provide telehealth therapy services to generation Z across California helping individuals like you navigate the rough waters of young adulthood.
My approach
As a client centered therapist my aim is to guide you in your journey of self-discovery and support you in finding the answers you’ve been seeking. Based on your needs my approach will most commonly draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Multicultural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
My focus
I have over 10 years of helping teens and young adults overcome issues related to generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, personal growth and self-esteem, body image issues, unhealthy eating behavior, relationship issues, anger management, procrastination, identity issues, race related stress, trauma, school stress management, and career stress.
My communication style
My communication style is emphatic and aims at balancing the art of active listening with providing direct feedback. My goal is to create an emotionally safe environment where you can feel free to open up, at your own pace, without the fear of judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
Like many therapists I arrived to the healing profession based on a deep rooted desire to make a meaningful contribution to society and the community around me. I love that I get to help people heal through difficult times and be a witness to beautiful transformations.
My goals for you
You can expect our journey to be a collaborative one where I help you achieve your therapeutic goals. We will start by building trust between us, exploring what is bringing you to therapy, and figuring out what you would like to achieve in your journey. Your goals will serve as a guide for our ongoing work together.
My first session with you
During our meeting you can expect us to focus on what is going well for you and what you find yourself challenged by. We will discuss your biological, psychological, and social history which will help me better understand who you are and what your unique needs will be. The goal of this meeting is to begin to build trust, explore what you would like to achieve, and to help you get a sense of what you can expect moving forward.
