Hello, my name is Carrie Anderson, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have over 10 years of experience in mental health and have been licensed for 3 years. I have worked in crisis, with adults, and currently work with school-aged youth.
My approach
I utilize a person-centered approach primarily, using empathy, equality, and a non-judgmental approach to meet you where you are at. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT, and Solution Focused approaches.
My focus
I typically work with school-age youth, ranging from ages 5 years old to 18 years old. I have experience working with Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment Disorders, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Trauma Related Disorders, PTSD, and Grief.
My communication style
I think it's important to have a relaxed environment, that is comfortable, and inviting, to help relieve anxiety, from being in a therapist's office, and so that each person feels comfortable and secure.
My journey to therapy
During my undergrad education, I took a psychology class, that I found intriguing, and wanted to learn more about, and opened up my eyes to wanting to learn more about mental health. I also have personal experience with family who have struggled with mental health illness and found a desire and passion to want to help others through this.
My goals for you
I work together with each individual to come up with goals that are attainable and tailored to each individual's diagnosis.
My first session with you
During our first session, I will ask questions, to get to know you better, in an effort to find out what you may be struggling with and discuss goals to work on together in therapy.
