Hello, my name is Natalie, and I enjoy helping clients learn about themselves with the goal of eliminating what is holding them back. My background includes assessing and treating various mental health conditions, from depression to Schizophrenia. In my free time, I enjoy spending time at the beach and playing with my dogs.
My approach
The first step in a therapeutic relationship is building rapport. Each person is unique and has a different story to tell. I utilize cognitive behavioral techniques with a focus on strengths. Finding out why we do what we do can help change the direction of our lives.
My focus
I enjoy working with a diverse population of individuals who are motivated to change and improve their lives.
My communication style
I believe therapy should be an interactive process. I am energetic and curious, and always judgment free.
My journey to therapy
My personality has always been one that wishes to help others in any way I can. Growing up, I tended to be the person others came to with their problems, so I became fascinated with finding out to best help them. Early in college, I decided to be a Psychology major, and the desire never left. My career has included non-profit and community-based mental health treatment.
My goals for you
Success is such an individual goal. It can be an improved business/personal relationship, getting the job you wanted, or being able to go on that long-awaited trip without fearing panic/anxiety will show up. Progress can be gaining skills and lessening bothersome symptoms. I think short and long-term goals are important so that the therapist and the client can monitor and celebrate progress.
My first session with you
The first session is all about "getting to know you," The intake forms can help identify what brought you to therapy and provide some demographic information. Still, I am looking to gain insight into what you are passionate about, what changes you wish to make, and how I can best assist in this process.
