Hi, my name is Amanda Jackson and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). My approach is to provide a safe space to process your feelings and experiences without fear of judgment.
My approach
I have a client-centered approach to therapy. I meet my clients where they are at the start of each session. Rapport and trust are very important to me while providing therapy. In addition to client-centered, I use elements of CBT, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and other therapeutic approaches, as appropriate.
My focus
I have experience working with individuals who have experienced childhood trauma, low self-esteem, divorce, anxiety, grief and loss (including pet loss and bereavement), various kinds of life stress, and foster/adopt children and families. I have worked with children (from infants to preteen), families, and adults (from ages 18 to 71).
My communication style
I try to create a warm and safe environment for my sessions. I'm not here to judge you. I actively listen and validate your feelings and experiences, while providing a safe space for processing and growth. Vulnerability can be uncomfortable and I strive to make our sessions as comfortable as possible.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always been the person my friends came to to talk to and process their emotions. Being a therapist only made sense. Helping people through their feelings and experiences is incredibly special.
My goals for you
I set goals based on my client's needs and wants for therapy. Goal setting is a collaborative experience and I always include the client in the process.
My first session with you
The first session with me will be about building trust and rapport. I allow clients to ask me questions in order to help them feel the most comfortable.
