My name is Jazmin Alarcon and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety and stress related to women's issues, school, work, and relationships. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical behavior therapy.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies depending on the needs of the client. I most often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I find those approaches help the client identify triggers, adjust behaviors and cognitive dissonance, and can improve their symptoms.
My focus
With my expertise, I work best with adults dealing with anxiety and depression. This may be present at home, school, work, socializing, and in relationships. I help clients identify and utilize their strengths in order to improve their quality of life.
My communication style
My communication style is open, genuine, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything.
My journey to therapy
I decided to become a therapist to help people alleviate emotional distress and improve their quality of life. Since high school, I have been interested in psychology and gravitated toward the mental health field, whether in education, internships, or employment. I am passionate about mental health and am an advocate for everyone receiving treatment!
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is collaborative. Whether the client has identified goals or not we will work together to determine what the best course of action will be for the client based on their needs.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you’ve been feeling recently, why you decided to seek treatment, and any other questions that could help me understand you better. The first session is about getting to know each other and getting a sense of what you what like to accomplish in therapy.
