My name is Nereida Medina, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Redlands, California. I am currently working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults in individual and couples therapy. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, and relationship conflicts.
My eclectic approach to therapy allows for a tailored experience for each individual's needs. I use evidence-based practices and most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered. These approaches help increase clients’ awareness of self and reframe unhelpful narratives to begin feeling better.
My style and approach are a good fit for young adults and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and couples who are struggling to communicate through ongoing stressors. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to problem solve and use effective coping to develop a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, reflective, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, without fear of judgment. I strive to provide a safe and empathetic environment to help others through difficult times and I enjoy seeing individuals transform into their authentic selves.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients consists of working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building rapport and identifying what is at the core of your current struggles. Over time, we will collaboratively set short-term goals and track your progress.
My first session with you
It is important for you to feel comfortable with your therapist; hence, the first session is all about building an initial connection. Each individual is different, and I ask questions to obtain an overview of your life and to get to know you better. In our first session, we will talk about what brought you into therapy and I will ask questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way.
