Hi! I am Keren Khait, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #137961 focusing on mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, perfectionism & imposter syndrome, as well as phase of life and transition difficulties. I use a client-tailored approach, pulling techniques from different schools of thought in order to create the best treatment plan for each individual client.
My approach
Due to each client being a unique person, my treatment approach is unique as well. Pulling from cognitive approaches (such as CBT and DBT), depth psychological, and psychodynamic approaches, my lens is relational and eclectic. Whether a client is in need of learning coping skills or processing events from the past, the best combination of treatments will be chosen.
My focus
Motivation for improvement is key for therapy. I typically work with individuals who recognize that they are struggling and want to put in the work to get better. The clients that often come to me are struggling with mood and anxiety disorders, with the presenting problems of high stress, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome.
My communication style
I am a wounded healer, and I embody that in my communication with clients. I set a tone for sessions that put myself and the client as equals, not myself as the one in charge. I create a safe space with an emphasis on empathy, that allows for collaboration, feedback, and open communication. I enjoy using symbolism, metaphors, and humor when appropriate, which clients often find comforting.
My journey to mental healthcare
Growing up I had always been the one that friends reached out to when they were feeling sad, needing to vent, or seeking advice, as I grew older, the field of psychology and mental health has become a passion of mine, and becoming a therapist has been a gift and privilege.
