By way of introduction, my name is Maria C. Oliveri. I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I am a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, and the former Director of Clinical Training for the El Monte Police Department. I am versed in all clinical approaches, and in integrating my education and experience to fit your individual needs. It takes courage to reach out, and I hope that I can be of service...
My approach
My approach to therapy is client-focused. It is not about me. It is about me helping you to help yourself. Therapy is about empowerment.
My focus
I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 25 years, and my scope of experience is broad. Nevertheless, each person and each problem is unique. My confidence is not is not in me, but in God using me as a vessel of His hope and healing to all of those whom He has entrusted to me.
My communication style
I endeavor to speak on the level of the client. "I am all things to all people...(paraphrased)." I feel comfortable connecting with everyone. You will feel as though I am an old friend even though we have just met.
My journey to mental healthcare
There was a time when I wanted to write children's books, but God led me elsewhere. I believe that each of us must find what God's will is for his or her life, and then to do it wholeheartedly. I can wholeheartedly help you to write the story that you were meant to live.
My goals for you
You decide your therapeutic goals. No one knows more than you what it is that you hope to gain from therapy.
My first session with you
You can expect me to be there for you, to validate your experience, to help you to formulate therapeutic goals that are realistic and attainable, and to encourage and support you on your journey. It would be my privilege and pleasure to be a part of it.
