I am a Licensed Psychologist in LA, CA. I believe therapy is not a sign that something is deeply wrong with you personally, but sometimes we reach a stuck point (emotionally or mentally) and we do not know why, therapy helps uncover those stuck points to get you back on track. I have a deep interest in helping individuals gain perspective and other tools to navigate life's challenges, I focus on doing the mental and heart work to ensure you are equipped to live at your highest potential.
My approach
I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy that allows me to draw from various forms of treatment to fit the needs of each individual. I am skilled at using CBT, ACT, Client-Centered, Trauma Focused Therapy (CPT), Solution Focused, and Emotional Processing, just to name a few. Most times, I use psychodynamic work to uncover the unconscious thoughts/motives/behaviors to gain a deeper understanding of our psyche and our behaviors.
My focus
I have experience and training working with young, middle, and older adults who presents with emotional distress, anxiety, depression, impulsivity, substance use disorders, and those who have experienced a traumatic event.
My communication style
I provide the space to process emotions/thoughts/behaviors, gain perspective and learn new details and nuances about themselves and their circumstance. I do not offer therapy by pretending I know all the answers, and/or the expert in your life, the goal is to help you discover the answers while I walk beside you in the process. Therapy with me is the process of discovery and enlightenment. Once we discover, we can move into the therapeutic space of change.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been intrigued by the psyche and how are experiences have shaped us. These experiences produce adaptive and nonadaptive behaviors, which cause people to be stuck, either cognitively or emotionally. Helping individuals uncover the connections between our experiences and environment produces deep and meaningful work.
My goals for you
Goal setting is a collaborative approach, with the client leading the discussion on areas of improvement, internally or externally.
My first session with you
The first session will consist of introductions, a review of therapy, scheduling, Confidentiality, HIPAA laws, and treatment planning.
