Greetings. I’m Margarita. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. It is a pleasure to meet you and I am excited to know that we can work together to help you live a life you are longing for.
My approach
There are many ways to change your life and therapy is one of them. In my practice, I use an integrative approach to treatment, blending humanistic and positive psychology with the latest research in neuroscience, cognition, language, and relational psychology. I often incorporate mindfulness, somatic therapies, explorations of metaphors, dreamwork, and transpersonal dimensions into my work.
My focus
I have been working in healthcare for over 28 years as a nurse, an executive manager, an educator, and a therapist. I work with adults and elderly. My specialty is depression/anxiety, chronic pain management, trauma and PTSD, existential issues, and adjustment to life changes. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), guided imagery, cognitive hypnotherapy, somatic therapies, dream work, and mindfulness meditation.
My communication style
Therapy is a process of collaboration between client and psychotherapist. My clients frequently tell me that I have a warm, nurturing presence that allows them to feel comfortable, accepted and heard. During session, I stay attuned to your emotional needs and concerns, helping you to navigate challenging situations and feel more calm and grounded.
My journey to therapy
I have been captivated by the power of mind, wisdom of the body, and the human’s potential to change since I was very young. I became a therapist through my own long journey of struggle and healing. To me, therapy means to take care of, to remediate, to heal encountered problems and limitations. Although we all deal with challenges in our unique way, defined by our peculiar nature, I believe that a healing journey to wholeness begins with a desire to understand yourself, your aspirations, your perceptions, and actions. Therapy can offer you this opportunity.
My goals for you
Very often, we miss noticing that problems or crises provide new opportunities for growth and progress. Developing goals of treatment and working as a team, we can find the right path that will help you reconnect with your values, tap into your aspirations, and resolve inner conflicts. My task is to help you to reach the goals and find the solutions to the issues you face so that you feel more in control over the situation.
My first session with you
I believe that each individual has its own unique world. In the first session, I am interviewing you and you are interviewing me. It is important that you feel comfortable and can trust the therapist you are planning to work with. Trust is a catalyst of changes in therapy. I strive to create a comfortable atmosphere of acceptance, trust and safety where you can feel free to express your feelings, gain new perspectives, and look confidently into your future.
