My name is Dr. Pilar Brown and I'm a licensed clinical social work with a Doctorate in Behavioral Health. My approach to therapy is based on the needs of my clients; primarily adults who are serious about working towards improving their overall health.
My approach
I commonly use cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing to guide my clients through the process of insight and change.
My focus
I am comfortable and typically work with adult clients experiencing mild to moderate depression and anxiety, stress or life coaching.
My communication style
I like to create an environment of positivity, trust, calm, peace, and humor when working with patients. My clients enjoy working with me because they don't feel judged, and I make them feel at ease and valued.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have dedicated my life and career to helping others improve their health. I enjoy listening to people and their stories and helping however I can to help them improve their circumstances if that is what they are seeking. I enjoy seeing the transformation in people's lives when they achieve success by improving their outlook. I am driven to this work because I believe we are all connected, so helping one person can make a positive impact for all.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting with clients by identifying the goals they want to work on; identify the specific steps and deadlines by which they believe they can accomplish their objectives. While creating the goals, I encourage my clients to envision their potential while making sure they are set up for success and avoid self-condemnation.
My first session with you
During the first session, my client can expect a basic introduction; a discussion about my professional obligations for confidentiality and mandatory reporting; a brief assessment of the reason they are seeking treatment; determining if we are a good fit.
