Hello and welcome! I'm Marlene Bazan, a licensed Marriage and family therapist with a passion for helping individuals like you overcome life's challenges and discover their true potential. With a humanistic approach to therapy, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe, empowered, and truly heard.
My approach
I obtained my license in 2018 and have been practicing as a therapist since 2013. My areas of expertise include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client/Person Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
My focus
While I welcome clients from all walks of life, I have a particular affinity for working with women in the adult population. I believe in empowering people to embrace their strengths, navigate life transitions, and find fulfillment in their personal and professional lives. Over the years, I have worked extensively with families and children dealing with challenging behaviors, and adults struggling with grief, anxiety, depression, stress and life transitions.
My communication style
Therapy doesn't have to be all seriousness! I bring a touch of humor and lightness to my sessions, creating a space where you can feel comfortable and at ease. My goal is to foster a therapeutic relationship built on kindness, compassion, and genuine care. One of my defining qualities is my natural empathy, which enables me to genuinely understand and relate to others' experiences and emotions.
My journey to therapy
I was initially drawn to the field of therapy due to a combination of factors, influenced by my upbringing in a small community. Growing up in such an environment, I witnessed the interconnectedness of individuals and the profound impact that supporting one another could have on overall well-being. This experience sparked within me a deep desire to help people and make a positive difference in their lives. I recognized that therapy not only helps individuals navigate personal struggles but also fosters growth, resilience, and emotional well-being.
My goals for you
I take a collaborative, client-centered approach when establishing goals. I want to ensure that goals align with my client's values, needs, and aspirations.
My first session with you
Our initial therapy session will serve as an introduction to myself and is an opportunity for you to become familiar with the therapeutic process. We will go over some general questions about yourself, your background, and your reasons for seeking therapy. By the end of our initial session we will determine the frequency and duration of future sessions.
