Hi! My name is Erika Hernandez. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California and Utah. I have experience in the areas of trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. My passion is working alongside my clients, which includes adolescents and adults, to help bring healing to those who have been through a traumatic or stressful experience.
My approach
I have been trained in a range of research-based practices including Seeking Safety and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I like to balance my practice through the use of techniques from a variety of theorists, cognitive, and solution-focused techniques to help my clients improve their overall quality of life.
My focus
I work with adolescents and adults (ages 12 and up) who are facing challenges, personally, professionally, and interpersonally. I have experience with trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, and life transitions.
My communication style
I provide a warm, open, non-judgmental approach in working with my clients. I strive to help my clients find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their family and personal relationships so they can feel healthy, whole, and safe.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had a passion for working with people and helping, so it was only natural that I entered into this profession. It is both humbling and gratifying to be able to support someone through a difficult journey or help them realize their resilience and self-worth.
My goals for you
I like to work collaboratively with my clients to establish treatment goals to ensure treatment is meaningful to them.
My first session with you
I love to get to know the clients I am working with, as it is important to begin establishing rapport in order to create a safe working relationship. I like to begin discussing goals and what the client would like to achieve during our time together, so we can begin to establish our plan for treatment.
