My name is Maryam Afshari, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT#104786) experienced in working with couples & individuals with addiction, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and relationship issues.
My approach
My methods of therapy are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
My focus
My expertise includes working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.
My communication style
My therapy style is warm, active, and without judgment. My goal is to build confidence and create a safe space where clients can feel open by sharing their thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
My journey to therapy
What motivates me to do this job is to grow by meeting new people and learning new things about each client. It is rewarding to be able to walk with people on their journey of understanding themselves, change, and light in their lives. To be trusted with my client's deepest secrets, with a view to relieving pain and finding healthy and effective solutions. This is why I love my career as a therapist.
My goals for you
One way to develop goals is to brainstorm the reasons for seeking therapy. Focus on 1-3 specific objectives. Plan actions to achieve those goals.
My first session with you
Getting to know the client, making the client feel safe, accepted, and comfortable, and asking the issues that brought the client to therapy. Ask questions about the client's concerns, history and background, current symptoms or struggles, as well interests, strengths, and goals of the therapy.
