My name is Veronica Arellano and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, and intimate partner violence using a trauma informed approach.
My approach
My approach to therapy is to individualize based on the needs of the client. I most often use Psychodynamic Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy while also weaving other modalities as needed. This approach helps us gain insight and direction to get you feeling better as soon as possible.
My focus
I have found that this approach works well with adults who have unresolved traumas that sometimes present themselves when the person is under stress, and or when they encounter new life transitions, and challenges. I can help guide you to get through them. The person/client becomes empowered by strengthening their skills to feel better and improve their relationships.
My communication style
My communication style is calm with positive regard while also keeping things real, as the focus is on getting your goals met. I want my clients to feel comfortable with sharing anything with me knowing that I will be understanding and invested in their wellbeing.
My journey to therapy
Being a therapist comes naturally to me and people say that they feel my genuine care and investment in them. I believe my life experience allows me to have a deep understanding, and I find it rewarding to see people thrive, and find peace within themselves. I have worked with people of all ages and walks of life for about twelve years. I have heard a lot in those years and am ready to know about you.
My goals for you
My main goal is to bring out the best in you. My ongoing goal is to individualize the treatment to your specific needs. I would help build a safe and trusting environment for you to get what you need from our time together as you become the leader of your own session. We would create smaller goals to accomplish your main goal and I may assign tasks while providing support to you as we go.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session is me listening to how you came to therapy and what you think you need from me, so I can get a sense of what to do next. I want to make sure that we are a good fit, so you can get the most out of your valuable time.
