My name is Nazanin Arkan and I am Licensed Marriage and Family therapist with a masters in counseling psychology with over 9 years of experiences in the mental health field. I have experience working with adults with substance use challenges and high-functioning dual diagnosis patients.
My approach
My treatment approach varies and is individualized as I use CBT, client centered, or mindfulness-based approach. Although my treatment approach varies, I firmly believe in the importance of getting to know the whole person and their uniqueness, and removing labels and judgments associated with them. I am a strong believer and advocate of mindfulness and will bring this positive energy and quality to help my clients.
My focus
I love working with clients who are looking to discover their whole self in order to tap into their full potential. I also consider myself a culture-aware therapist. I was born and raised in Iran and moved to the U.S to continue my education. This migration has been one of the major adjustments in my life and has made me more sensitive and empathetic to people who lack a proper support system.
My communication style
I work to create an environment for my clients where they feel safe, seen, and heard. Compassion is one of my core values and I strongly believe that therapeutic sessions happen in an environment where clients feel empathy, compassion, and not judged.
My journey to therapy
After many years of experience in this field I have come to learn that helping people become the best version of themselves is a privilege, an honor and a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. The opportunity to take on this challenge has been my source of motivation day in and day out.
