I am Amanda Barlow (MA, LPCC). I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Alaska.
My approach
I use a person-centered approach to counseling and incorporate DBT, EMDR, and Solution Focused Therapy.
My focus
I most often provide individual and group counseling to adults with a history of military or childhood trauma and to individuals who are struggling with anxiety and depression.
My communication style
My clients often appreciate my calm demeanor and willingness to walk through the process with them. I understand that this work is both difficult and necessary and work to ensure that the environment respects that balance.
My journey to therapy
I have been in the behavioral health field since I finished my bachelor's degree. I noticed during college that I was passionate about helping people to learn how to get through difficult situations. After college, I had a mentor who recommended that I pursue my Masters in Professional Counseling.
My goals for you
In an initial session, I work with the client to identify their strengths and their needs. I work with you to create a set of goals based on the information provided. I make sure to break it down into more manageable steps.
My first session with you
The first session is primarily a time to get to know your history and to develop rapport. We also talk about what to expect in counseling and throughout the treatment process.
