My name is Brittany Armstrong and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a passion to provide hope and healing to those seeking support through life's challenges. I have worked in community clinics and outpatient hospitals where I was able to provide a safe space for individuals to gain insight and perspective through both individual and group therapy. Additionally, I have worked for higher education institutions providing career counseling and academic advisement for both students and their families.
My approach
I have an eclectic approach to my counseling style and pull from different theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused, Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Positive Psychology.
My focus
My diverse background includes working with individuals, couples, and families by providing counseling and education within areas such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, and trauma.
My communication style
My counseling style is warm and approachable. I understand that taking the first step can be scary, and my commitment to you is to make you feel safe and comfortable throughout your experience.
My journey to therapy
I have always been attracted to listening to others and hearing about their experiences and how I can help. Empathy is one of my strengths and I still can't believe I get to listen to YOU for a living! What an honor. :)
My goals for you
I like to take the first couple of sessions to really understand your reasons for coming to therapy, your previous experiences, and how we can work together to meet your goals. I will assess symptoms and work with you on setting attainable goals within the first month.
My first session with you
I like to call our first sessions a "coffee talk!" No pressure, no expectations, and act as if you are chatting with a friend! You need to feel comfortable with me as I do you, so we can build an effective therapeutic relationship.
