My name is Felicia Barr and as a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California, I look forward to supporting your therapeutic needs in the areas of interpersonal relationships, professional stress, life transitions as well as grief and loss.
My approach
Working from a multi-lens approach, I most often pull from evidence-based practices such as CBT, ACT, and process-driven modalities. You can reliably leave with techniques to apply to your real-world situation and find comfort in knowing the next session will be a building block from the previous one.
My focus
I am currently practicing with adult clients individually for mild mental health-related concerns.
My communication style
I would deceive my approach and style of communication to be open and inviting. I am a firm believer that you are the driver of your therapy process and adjustments are welcome to be made along the way. I am direct with information shared, although I promise to deliver direct communication in the kindest, most considerate way possible.
My journey to therapy
I am a firm believer that connection makes the world go 'round and for so many that is unfortunately missing. I find fulfillment in being a safe space for many people's most vulnerable times of their lives and hope to be a grounded, predictable place for my clients when they show up each week. It is an honor to walk alongside so many people who feel they are at a point of struggle -- to then see them turn around and be their strongest. The human condition is a fierce and resilient experience, it's an amazing process to witness and participate in.
My goals for you
In our first session, we will discuss your top 1-2 goals and revisit them throughout the treatment process. Having measurable goals allows us to track the effectiveness of your time and energy spent in session!
My first session with you
Our first session is framed to get to know you, your needs, and your goals and understand how therapy can best serve you. This is also a time to assess if we are the best fit for each other. Plan for open-ended questions as well as some concerted life/history information gathering for me to get to know how I can best support you.
