Wilderness therapy embraces a relational and transpersonal approach to healing and recovery. Relying on the inherent interconnectedness of all living things, interest within this evidenced-based discipline has generated a variety of modalities for serving individuals who seek to uncover a deeper understanding of their own "wild" and genuine spirit. I have found my own personal healing to be intimately connected to spending time in nature, and it is here that I believe that we can all begin to rediscover our intrinsic humanity and let go of those things that distract us from our higher selves. My approach
I believe in emphasizing one's own unique spiritual journey as the primary source of knowing; that there is nothing needed to "fix," rather an opportunity to explore and re-rediscover what is already present with newfound curiosity and connection. Collaborating with our natural environment whilst providing a safe and contained relationship for my clients encourages us both to grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually through compassion in relationships. My background in Transpersonal and Eastern Psychology appropriately blends familiar and current Western approaches to counseling with organic, mindful, and compassionate perspectives, outlooks, and interventions
My focus
I work with individuals who are curious about learning more about themselves and the world around them to develop a deeper understanding and connection with their lived experiences.
My communication style
Compassionate, Collaborative, Supportive, Patient, Listening, Transparent, Encouraging, Attuned, Confident
My journey to therapy
From a near-fatal car accident as a teen, my life trajectory has been guiding me, always, towards working with people who are also oriented towards growth and healing in their own way. Wilderness Therapy is where I have found the most resonance and opportunity to return to and connect with our "Wild Spirit," and guiding in Colorado and Utah afforded me the opportunity to share this Wisdom with others. After moving to California, I became a Director of several Crisis Houses in the Community, serving underprivileged populations struggling with severe and chronic mental health challenges, and took great pride in offering quality and consistent counseling services to all people from all walks of life, regardless of circumstance or condition. Blending traditional counseling and virtual settings with tangible and experiential opportunities to translate what is being discussed and processed in the office with "real world," applications and opportunities is something that I continue to be passionate about looking forward.
My goals for you
With Collaboration and routine evaluation. As circumstances change, so too might our goals and objectives.
My first session with you
During our first session, we might expect an opportunity to connect and learn more about one another. We would expect to begin developing a plan for how best I can support you in counseling and along your journey.
