Hi there, I'm Remonde!

Hi, I graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Graduate Degree, LMHC. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor with 30 years of experience in Mental Health, providing therapy for individuals, couples, and families. I worked in various settings, including community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, and private practice. I have helped adults of all ages deal with a wide range of problems, including; grief and loss, substance abuse, anger management, legal issues, family conflict, anger management issues, parenting issues, life transitions, depression, anxiety, stress management, behavioral issues, relationship issues, trauma, women's issues, marital and premarital counseling, divorce, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, sexual abuse, self-esteem, eating disorders.

My approach

I use CBT which is based on the idea that negative thoughts and beliefs can lead to negative emotions and behaviors. CBT typically involves a structured and collaborative approach between the therapist and the client. I help clients identify negative thoughts and beliefs and work with them to develop new, more realistic ways of thinking. I may also encourage my clients to engage in activities that are enjoyable or meaningful to them, as a way of promoting positive emotions and behaviors. One of the key features of CBT is its focus on homework assignments, which are designed to help clients practice new skills and behaviors outside of therapy sessions. This helps to reinforce the skills learned in therapy and improve the client's overall functioning.

My focus

I typically work with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, divorce, career issues, relationship issues, sexual abuse, mood disorders, and various other concerns.

My communication style

Clients have often said that I'm easy to talk to; they find me to be empathic and solution-focused. I am passionate about helping people reach their potential through processing the challenges they face. I believe that people are extremely resilient, and with the right support, anyone can overcome any challenges they may encounter. By encouraging you to build upon personal strengths and suggesting skills that can overcome self-inflicted feelings of hopelessness, I strive to help you develop a more positive attitude.

My journey to mental healthcare

I sincerely wanted to help people cope with the challenges they face to become the best version of themselves.

My goals for you

Together with the client, we discuss the client's concerns and set the goals for with the client. During this initial session, I will also want to hear the client's story, what brought them to therapy at this time, and how it's impacting them currently.

My first session with you

The first session of therapy is a crucial step in the therapeutic process. It sets the foundation for a successful therapeutic relationship between myself and my client. I will typically ask clients a series of questions to better understand their background, personality, and reasons for seeking therapy. By gathering information about the client's history, personality, and current situation, I can develop a comprehensive understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of concern. This understanding enables me to identify the client's goals and objectives for treatment. Together with the client, we set the goals for them. During this initial session, I will also want to hear the client's story, what brought them to therapy at this time, and how it's impacting them currently.
