Thanks for being brave to seek help to overcome challenges and make you more resilient. My name is Floribeth Arrautt, MSW, LCSW, a bilingual licensed clinical social worker with 17 years of experience providing psychotherapy to the elderly, adults, young teens, and children with chronic medical issues and challenges.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I use an eclectic approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, as those modalities help my clients build a shared understanding of their reality and allow us to work together in their journey to success.
My focus
My client population & specialty focus on providing the psychological tools and interventions that my patients need when dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, chronic medical issues, loss & grief, obesity, emotional eating behaviors. I help my clients to build coping skills to feel better and to overcome obstacles.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, empathetic, and active listening. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about their issues. I pride myself on my ability to keep confidentiality, to provide a safe space, and to listen non-judgmentally.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to listen and to help people. I had received therapy when I was a teenager. Through all of my 17 years of experience, I had participated as a guest speaker to support groups, volunteering in my community activities, and being compassionate towards others. I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals become more resilient and set an example to others.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is about working together to define specific, measurable, and attainable goals, and to monitor your progress weekly.
My first session with you
To spend most of our time talking about how you have been feeling, and me asking open-ended questions to better understand your presenting issues and to provide mindfulness relaxation techniques. The first session is about us building rapport and for you to feel safe and comfortable talking. It will be my pleasure to become your psychotherapist and to see you soar through challenges.
