My name is Erik Skow, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with 6 years of experience as a clinician. I have a passion to help clients find peace in their lives by working through symptoms related to anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, impulsivity, life changes, and interpersonal conflicts.
My approach to therapy varies based on each individual’s needs. I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. These modalities help clients to work through past trauma, anxiety, depressive symptoms, cognitive barriers, and challenges to change maladaptive behaviors or habits.
My clinical experience involves working with children of all ages work through life transitions, trauma, and social pressures. I have experience working with adults who have a history of substance use concerns, anxiety, depression, and difficulty developing and maintaining relationships in their lives. I work to help my clients process their emotions, life triggers, and relationships to allow them to feel a higher level of self-esteem and confidence.

I take a person-centered approach to my communication style. I want my clients to feel safe and comfortable talking with me about anything without feeling judged.
My journey to mental healthcare
After leaving the Military I took an aptitude test with veteran’s affairs which showed my passion to help others. This led me to become a teacher and pursue a mental health counseling degree. As a teacher and therapist, I have always been motivated to help others find peace and confidence in their lives.
