My name is Dr. Jillian Baldwin, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Psy.D.) based in Miami, FL working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults (18+), utilizing relationship-based interventions paired with individualized behavioral plans and skill building to support clients in reaching their goals.
My approach
Using a collaborative approach to treatment, I guide my clients in building skills to help them improve their level of functioning and live in the direction of their values. I believe that each client requires a therapeutic approach that is unique to his/her/their needs. I utilize a number of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Exposure and Response Prevention, often integrating approaches based on a client’s presenting problems and personal goals.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach is a good fit for adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and mood difficulties. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, attentional problems, low motivation, and relationship struggles. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them reach their goals and live in the direction of their values.
My communication style
My communication style is accommodating, personable, and at times playful! I strive to create a nurturing and empathic therapeutic environment that provides a space of security and understanding for my clients.
My journey to therapy
What drives me most as a psychologist is a genuine interest and love for people. Every individual has their own story, history, strengths, difficulties, and unique way of viewing the world. I, like everyone, have experienced the sense of relief and the genuine connection that comes from truly feeling heard and understood by someone, especially when it appears that most people do not. As a psychologist, I strive to create this experience by providing a safe and understanding therapeutic environment where my clients can feel comfortable being themselves.
My goals for you
I work collaboratively with clients to determine what they would like to accomplish in treatment. This often starts by building trust and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, I work with clients to set goals and track progress.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect to spend the majority of time exploring what brought them to treatment. I will ask a number of questions to better understand what may be contributing to a client’s current difficulties. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for a client moving forward.
