My name is Robert(Bob)Willis. I am a licensed LPC. My approach to therapy is client-centered with an emphasis on Biblical teaching. It is my belief that everything a therapist needs to counsel as well as the needs of the client is found in Scripture both Old and New Testaments. After 40+ years in Pastoral Ministry, I am convinced the Bible has the answers to all of man's dilemmas.
My approach
I approach therapy from an eclectic or variety of approaches but mainly form Cognitive Behavior Therapy along with Delectable Behavioral Therapy
My focus
The clients I feel the most comfortable working with are those struggling with anxiety and depression. I also am comfortable working with those with marriage challenges and premarital sessions to prepare the couple with tools to help function as God has designed marriage to work.
My communication style
My style of communication is conversational and when needed confrontational with a gentle touch. Also, I use probing questions to get my client to open up and talk rather than just give short one-word answers. This will help me get to the root of the issues much easier and quicker.
My journey to mental healthcare
Being a Pastor for over 40 years has led me to pursue counseling as a joint and second career. I love People and want the best for my clients. It is my desire for my clients to learn to understand themselves. My goal is to help them mature and grow as a person or couple. I get joy from watching my client grow and learn how to effectively live their lives in a satisfying way.
My goals for you
Goal setting is done between the therapist and the client. Goals are specific, measurable, and attainable.
My first session with you
The first session is a get-to-know-you session as well as the client getting to know the therapist. It will include questions about one's past. Conversations about what the client understands about themselves and what they expect from the therapist. We will also discuss what the client expects to gain from the counseling experience.
