Hi there, I'm Kevin!

My name is Kevin Larkins, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Atlanta, Georgia, and working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults. I specialize in anxiety, stress, depression, couples therapy, substance abuse, bipolar d/o, relationship issues, interpersonal conflict, LGBTQIA issues, and trauma-related issues, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Solution-focused, Anger resolution and Acceptance, and Commitment Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better.

My approach

The needs of each person I work with determine how I approach therapy. Because each of the frequently used modalities aid in the development of a strong therapeutic alliance between the client and me, I most usually employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance, Interpersonal, Person-entered. Solution-focused, EMDR, DBT, Family systems, Reality therapy, and Commitment Therapy. The above-mentioned modalities will enable us to collaborate to find a shared understanding of their reality.

My focus

I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for teens, young adults, families, and couples who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. Additionally, my approach also provides a safe space for the LGBTQIA community, which may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and interpersonal conflict. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.

My communication style

My communication style is assertive, calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I made the decision to pursue a career in therapy because I have always wanted to assist others. Whether it was serving as a peer counselor in school, doing community service, or being a dependable and devoted friend, I have always come by it naturally. I am drawn to assisting those going through adversity. I like to watch people develop into their best selves.

My goals for you

Working together to determine your goals for our time together is the foundation of my method for setting goals with clients. Often, this begins with us developing trust and becoming at ease with what it means to be in treatment. Together, we'll set goals and monitor your progress over time.

My first session with you

You may anticipate that at our initial meeting, we will discuss extensively how you've been feeling lately, and I will ask you questions to help me understand some of the possible causes of those feelings. The goal of the first session is to establish a rapport between us and give me some direction for the future. Since every person is unique, I like to listen to you before assuming I understand what will benefit you most going forward.
