My name is Jivanda Martin MA, LPC, CPCS, CAMSII. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia. I have over 24 years of experience in the mental health field. The therapeutic modality I use the most is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it historically gets positive results in a short period of time.
My approach
My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and solution-focused counseling in a safe, positive, and optimistic atmosphere. I provide the support needed to share, become aware, and address life challenges in a way that results in a treatment plan designed to meet your unique and specific needs.
My focus
My experience with diverse participants has allowed me to acquire the therapeutic and coaching skills needed to work effectively with youth, adults, and seniors from all walks of life to address a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, grief and loss, physical trauma or emotional abuse, as well as important life transitions.
My communication style
I have an assertive communication style that lends to empathy and the development of a positive therapeutic rapport. I provide an atmosphere in which you can be heard, validated, and understood. In this environment, your true authentic self will be celebrated and improved through the development of awareness.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to be a therapist over 30 years ago while in college. I believe that the key to life is to find what you do well and to make a career doing it. I have always had an affinity for compassion, understanding, empathy, and validation. The field of psychology allows me to exercise this affinity while helping others.
My goals for you
Goal setting is approached through a series of open-ended questions to address the client's unique needs.
My first session with you
The first session is information gathering and goal setting in an effort to create the foundation and direction of the therapeutic process.
