My journey to therapy
When I was in High School, I wanted to be a vet. When I realized that I hated chemistry and biology, that was out. I started exploring other options and took a psychology class in my senior year. I was fascinated by it and wanted to learn more about human behavior. That opened a door for a major in psychology in college and then a master's degree in Clinical Psychology as well. I realized early on that the information I learned could be used to help people understand and change their own behavior. I also learned that I could facilitate that process for them. I initially worked with high school students who were having difficulties in a "normal" school setting and were placed in an alternative school for learning. It was here that I realized that individuals with anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, etc. need empathy, guidance, non-judgment, guidance, and help address symptoms and develop the appropriate coping skills to better their lives and to be successful. Since that time, I have found this to be true with all walks of life, regardless of their diagnosis and/or disabilities.
My goals for you
As clients progress through treatment, they can expect a decrease in symptomology, an increase in coping skills, and an overall feeling of a better existence. Clients can move towards the best version of themselves and realize that they are not alone in their struggles.
My first session with you
During my first session, I would like to get to know more about you, what brought you to therapy, what you expect from therapy, and discuss how to best meet your needs. I will also tell you about my background and answer any questions that you may have. Choosing a therapist is a very personal process and a good fit is necessary for growth and change. During our first visit, we will also discuss if we are a good fit to work together.
