Hi there, I'm Snonita!

Hello. My name is Snonita Marcus. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am here to support you through your journey. I have vast experience working with all age groups and multiple diagnoses. My focus is to ensure you are comfortable and are heard and that we are able to meet your goal of attending therapy by moving at your pace. I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship and family conflict, self-esteem, and stress management.

My approach

Before I decide on theoretical approaches, I assess the client and build a rapport, then decide which approach will allow the client to meet their needs. If I try an approach and the client is resistant or unable to follow through, I try to find ways to alter the approach to ensure it is achievable. I may decide to try another approach that may be more effective and more beneficial to my client. I am a therapist who will try different ways to assist my clients and not limit myself or my clients to one clinical modality. My Clinical approaches are CBT, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Behavioral Therapy.

My focus

I have experience with all ages. I have worked with all clients from 5 yrs old to 65 yrs old. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults. Still, I also have vast experience working with parents, couples, and clients dealing with life transitions, stress management, and relationship and family conflict. I am comfortable treating Depression, Anxiety, self-esteem, school conflict, stress management, and self-harm.

My communication style

I ensure my clients have a safe and comfortable environment. I allow them to set the tone initially, but as we build rapport, I strive to encourage them and support them as we begin our work together on their treatment goals. I am very approachable and receptive and try to set a calm and relaxing tone in my sessions.

My journey to mental healthcare

What attracted me to being a therapist is supporting people through their most difficult times. It came naturally for me to support my friends and family growing up when they struggled and had difficulties. It made me want to specialize in Social Work to be able to support others who do not have the assistance or encouragement from family and friends and who need extra support in their struggles with mental health. I am very passionate about helping others and have great compassion for those who reach out for extra support and want to better their mental health and meet their life's goals. It gives me great pleasure to observe my clients make progress and to be a part of their process.

My goals for you

I will ask the clients what they would like to accomplish during therapy. I ensure the goals we are setting are realistic goals for the client. I establish when and if my client is ready for steps toward certain goals and prioritize the goals we will work on first.

My first session with you

The client will expect a very approachable, friendly, and empathetic therapist. My goal is always to make the client comfortable and to ensure their needs are met. Building a rapport and ensuring they are heard and supported is my number one priority.
