My name is Christopher Baumann, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I understand that often we go through life managing internal struggles, while attempting to navigate our circumstances. By seeking greater understanding into ourselves and our relationships, we may come face to face with our deepest doubts and fears. Avoiding struggles and pain opens up the possibility for dysfunction, negativity, and neglect.
My approach
Shame dies when stories are told in safe places. There is not a human being in this world who does not feel a bit better when they've been heard, seen and understood. Emotions can be a lot to carry, and it's okay to put them down when you're ready. You are deserving of a life that you don't feel like you need to run from.
My focus
Being a human is messy. It's not as neat as our "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts" would have us believe. You are allowed to talk about things that upset you. You are allowed to hold people accountable. You are allowed to take time before you move on. If something hurts, feel it.
My communication style
You will find me to be very relationship-oriented in both my personal and professional life. My style is laid back and informal, yet direct and real. I want our sessions to feel less clinical and more like a conversation.
My journey to mental healthcare
I’ve known for a long time now, that my life’s purpose was to help others. I strive to create an approach that is both integrative and collaborative; helping you feel heard, accepted, and understood. I take a "concierge" approach to the way I run my practice. I invite my clients to message me anytime of day or night, between sessions, for additional support.
My goals for you
Beneath each feeling is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, instead of the symptom. Don't quit. You're already in pain. You're already hurt. Get a reward from it. Because you're worthy of an unbiased, safe and productive opportunity to process your experiences.
My first session with you
Get cozy in your own space. No driving or rushing. Therapy on your terms. I want you to be comfortable because every day you make the decision to either invest in your mental health or not. As a therapist with experience in helping those from every walk of life, we all tend to get stuck in patterns and habits that can impact us and those around us. My clients find relief knowing they can talk about what is really going on in their lives, free from judgement. I've been in the client chair myself and it's not always easy to ask for help. Finding the courage to move forward requires a safe and caring space to unravel the knots of life.
