Laura Begin, LCSW, CT I'm an LCSW, sex therapist, and thanatologist. They all intersect. I'm trained in somatics and work with people to integrate their truth, by aligning their body mind & spirit. My expertise is with grief, trauma, and loss, women's issues, religious trauma, and relationships across the lifespan.
My approach
I have trained in modalities that incorporate the body and use mindful awareness, yoga, EMDR, and Sensorimotor psychotherapy because words are often not enough. I sweep a path, you must walk it.
My focus
There is no typical client. You are the authority of you. I work well with motivated people who want to improve their lives. If you are ready to do the work and move through the discomfort, I'll be there with you.
My communication style
Calm, safe, and supportive. I purpose to make clients' sessions feel welcoming and affirming. I meet clients where they are and sweep the path they must walk. Building a therapeutic alliance provides accountability toward reaching their goals.
My journey to therapy
I believe everyone has what they need within themselves. Therapy serves the purpose of assisting, guiding, teaching, and equipping people to nurture, grow and strengthen their innate capabilities. You aren't broken and I don't fix you. As an objective exhorter, I help you reach your potential.
My goals for you
I take the cue from my clients. I balance sessions with structure in working toward goals while allowing room for flexibility to address issues as they arise.
My first session with you
The first session, after the intake, is the opportunity to get to know each other better. I like to have an understanding of the client's baseline and discern where they are in relation to that, where they want to go, and how I may help them get there. We will outline the next steps and build from there.
