Hi there, I'm Raymond!

Ray DiStephan, LCSW. I have been working with teens and their families for the past 28 years. I have an in-depth understanding of public education and special education. I also work with adults and focus on building a personal rapport with every individual that I work with. Together we look for and find some strategies and a few answers.

My approach

Humanistic, Existential, Life Coaching, CBT.

My focus

Individual, Family, and Group Counseling. Teens, Adults, Families.

My communication style

I believe in being open, honest, and direct. Trust is essential in any therapeutic relationship. I work hard to earn that trust and do so by offering a nonjudgmental and safe environment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became aware that I wanted to become a therapist fairly early in my life. I went through difficult life circumstances in my mid-teen years and found great help in a counselor that I met while I was in high school. I knew then that this was the path for me. I love helping people and seeing them leave in a happier place than they were when I met them.

My goals for you

Generally, yes. But each individual is different, and his/her/their reason for being in counseling can greatly vary. Goals are an important piece, but only after some trust is established.

My first session with you

I want to get to know you and learn about the everyday person that you are. I want you to feel comfortable with me, whether that is you wanting to know more about me or you wanting me to be a blank and neutral slate for you. Why you are seeking help is obviously an important part of that first discussion.
