Therapy can be a difficult step, and even more difficult to find a therapist you connect with. I work to develop a therapeutic relationship in which realizations can occur and positive changes can be made. I have experience with both groups and individuals, and the intention is always to help enhance the client's current level of functioning and overall condition. My areas of expertise include behavioral issues, childhood trauma, insecure attachments, familial issues, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety.
My approach
Allyson utilizes a multitude of approaches. She doesn't believe one style or approach works for all, or even one person. So she chooses to tailor her approach to each person and their needs individually. Some common approaches can include CBT, ACT, mindfulness, Gottman, and Positive therapy.
My focus
Allyson started her career within the Mental Health field about 10 years ago and enjoys helping others. She started her career working with children ages 7-16 doing in-home Behavioral Modification Therapy. After two years and a desire to expand her skill set, Allyson shifted her client base. Allyson began working with teenage to young adult boys who were both mentally ill and in chronic Foster Care. She did intense individual and group therapy with them as well as Behavior Modifications. While working with these young men for over 3 years, she also trained staff in Behavioral Modification techniques, Boundaries adherence, and Self Awareness. Allyson has also worked in the capacity of supervising staff in areas surrounding Mental Illness and Substance Abuse. Allyson has worked to counsel families and parents going through difficult times, including their struggles with Mental Illness. She continues utilizing her skill set while also expanding doing different Mental Health consulting. Today, Allyson specializes in behavioral modification for children ages 3-16 as well as counseling children ages 8-17 through young adulthood, adults with depression, relationship issues, anxiety, and PTSD.

I believe my communication style is best described as clear and direct, but still compassionate and understanding.
My goals for you
Allyson approaches goals fairly quickly in the process; she will also check in regularly with her clients about progress, so it is always clear how they are doing.
