Hi there, I'm Teresa!

Life can be stressful offering various turns and detours that were quite unexpected. We can never underestimate the impact emotions have on our lives. My name is Teresa Longo and I am a LMHC with over 20 years of experience helping individuals navigate their life journey. I seek to offer a comfortable, safe place where you can heal while gaining more insight into the road behind and the one ahead. β€œTo get through the hardest journey we need only to take one step at a time, but we must keep on stepping.” – Chinese Proverb

My approach

I utilize various modalities including EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness, and motivational interviewing to assist you in making crooked paths straight. I am committed to helping people gain a greater understanding of and control over self-defeating patterns of behavior. I choose an eclectic approach to working with people because everyone is quite unique and flexibility is key. My aim is to have a toolbox of approaches based on CBT, EMDR, Humanistic, Spiritual and more. I use CBT to help you determine constructive and destructive thinking patterns. EMDR is useful in examining how past traumas impact present functioning. Discover and recover!

My focus

I work with clients struggling with depression and anxiety. All of us file information in our minds quite uniquely. These brain files, created at an early age, continue to be filled with both pleasant and traumatic life experiences. The goal of our work is to uncover malware-destructive patterns-and reboot with constructive routing that promotes healing the wounds that bind us.

My communication style

My aim is to create a safe and caring space where you can bring your authentic self to gain insight into patterns of behavior. In your self-exploration, you will find I am an attentive caring individual that sometimes offers a bit of humor as a laugh relaxes a heavy heart.

My journey to mental healthcare

I love love the work I do! From an early age, I was an observer of people and was intrigued at the unique ways people lived their lives. As a young adult, I realized how our thoughts about situations seemed to impact behavior. My own challenges and those around me motivated me to seek a career in healing. I am so blessed to be able to work in a career that aligns so well with my spiritual fulfillment.

My goals for you

The treatment plans are created together with you highlighting the goals you hope to achieve. The interventions used to reach these goals are key. I believe we are all uniquely special and I enjoy challenging you to see that and grow along the way!

My first session with you

During our first session, I like to gain an understanding of why you made the choice to enter therapy. From there, I explore your support systems and overall strengths to gain a better understanding of your world. My job is to make you feel comfortable during this exploration as I understand the hesitancy most people have about starting a therapeutic journey.
