Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Joann!

My name is Joann Crants, I am Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a Professional Counselor (LPC). I have over 30 years of experience working in various inpatient and outpatient settings.

My approach

My therapeutic approach uses skill sets from cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and rational-emotive therapy.

My focus

I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, childhood trauma, career challenges, substance abuse issues, and grief and loss.

My communication style

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating all my clients with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I believe that it takes courage to seek help and then take the first tentative steps towards change. If you are ready to tell your story, I am here to listen and support you in your journey towards a new life.

My journey to mental healthcare

I believe that a true therapist is BORN and that there are things that NO amount of book learning or college could or would ever teach you. For me being a therapist was a calling that began back as a teenager when I sat with other troubled friends trying to decide how they were going to handle what seemed like insurmountable problems. My journey and life's work go on and it is as much about learning from my dear clients as it is about helping people.

My goals for you

As we begin our therapeutic journey, I will assume that you may be somewhat overwhelmed and perhaps not really know where to begin or what you would like to work on. I understand because I have been where you are and for this reason, our first sessions will be more about getting to know you as a person and then tailoring your treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

My first session with you

As I have stated earlier, I usually try to spend our first session getting to know you as a person and listening to your unique "story." There are obviously questions that I must ask as a professional to determine your level of safety and mental health issues, however, I try to understand that you are first and foremost a human being and need compassion and understanding.
