My name is Bob Miller and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I have been practicing full-time in the mental health field as an LPC since 2011. Having worked in many career fields over the years, whether it's blue-collar or white-collar jobs, I believe I am able to better empathize with patients' issues of concern and better meet them where they are at any stage of their lives.
My approach
My approach to therapy is to empathically meet my patients where they are at and, through the therapeutic process, assist you in achieving emotional relief. I utilize several theoretical approaches to therapy based on the needs of my patients. Some approaches would include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy, among others.
My focus
My focus of therapy currently is on adult populations and issues encountered at various stages of life. Common mental health conditions I specialize in include Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Anger, Workplace stress, trauma, and relationship-based stress.
My communication style
My approach is to create a low-key, down-to-earth, collaborative approach. I strive to assist my patients in identifying what changes they want to make in their lives in order to enjoy life. I believe that a patient does not need prolonged periods in therapy to achieve personal happiness. My goal is to be solution-focused with my patients and make the most of each therapy session.
My journey to mental healthcare
I entered therapy after several years of working early on in blue-collar jobs, white-collar jobs, and being self-employed for years. Based on my years of always wanting to help others and always being a good listener, I decided to combine my life experiences as a partner, parent, grandparent, and work in the behavioral health field to become a therapist. Over the years, I believe in meeting my patients where they are at and understanding their wants and needs.
My goals for you
Goal setting is collaborative and evolves over time. My patients identify what their goals are, and I focus on assisting them in monitoring progress and achieving their goals.
My first session with you
The first therapy is a meet and greet session where we discuss issues of concern with the patient, pertinent background information, and the assessment and evaluation process starts. I am available to discuss the therapeutic process and answer any questions. My hope is by the end of the session to establish a therapeutic relationship and build on it as therapy moves forward.
