I am Lorin Williams East, a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes we all deserve compassion and a space to be authentic while growing and learning how to function in each of our unique lives.
My only agenda is to help you to meet your goals. I will bring empathy and an open mind to our sessions and can incorporate CBT, DBT, and Trauma Focused techniques that work with your own natural strengths.
I have a special interest in working with people in periods of life change or transition, whether that be professional, personal, or grief oriented. I also have expertise in anxiety, depression, and helping those who have been traumatized by sexual assault or by violence within the home.
My communication style
I am an active and non-judgmental listener that seeks to understand your perspective so that we can address the root concerns. I ask questions to clarify and ensure that I am on the same page as you. I work to never assume I know how you feel or see things.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was drawn to becoming a counselor to utilize my want and ability to help people who are in crisis. That led me to work within the family violence and sexual assault world for about six years. Throughout that time, I found I especially enjoy helping people not just in crisis but also through life changes, anxiety, depression, and processing grief and loss. I’ve been lucky to have always known I wanted to be a counselor and enjoy working with others on a variety of life’s challenges.
My goals for you
Progress looks different for everyone and is defined by you as my client. There are times for big moves and big changes and there are times for smaller truths and changes to occur so that you may integrate them into your life successfully. My goal is to help you feel healthier and more confident.
My first session with you
We will use the first session to get to know each other better. As we chat you will fill me in on your goals and wants for counseling and we will start to create a plan to address your needs together.
