Welcome, I’m Marion! My name is Marion Montgomery, I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in the state of Texas and provide services to clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in stress, anxiety, and burnout using Person-Centered, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, to help clients to, “Get out of their mind and into their life.”
My approach
My therapeutic approach depends on the needs of the client. Person-Centered is first and foremost during the initial phase of therapy. My goal is to give the client that unconditional, non-judgmental support they seek. Using the person-centered approach with cognitive behavior therapy allows the client to engage more, make decisions, and direct their therapeutic process with the help of the therapist. As the therapeutic process progresses, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is introduced to help the client, “Get out of their mind and into their life.”
My focus
I work best with adults who are dealing with the daily challenges of work-life balance, feeling out of place, and the uncertainty of what the future holds. Which often shows up as anxiety, depression, stress, and burnout. I work with my clients to help them to navigate through the difficulties, to empower them with the skills and tools to determine “What matters most?” and the courage to accept the experience and ultimately to feel great and enjoy life.
My communication style
I am a passionate person; I want my clients to feel that I have their back and I will give 100% to help them move from hurting to healing. I listen, I hear, and I understand. My clients quickly understand, from the first session, that I am here to support them and to meet them right where they are, with no preconceived judgments or biases.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my career as an engineer. I thought it would be my life’s work. Who knew that it was the foundation, and the catalyst that would lead me to do what I do now…helping others. When my career and life became unstable and unpredictable (Laid off), I turned to self-help books. I became the “go-to” person friends needed an ear or an answer to a problem. And one day I had a light-bulb moment, instantly I knew my passion… my calling. I enrolled in a counseling program, and I have been helping others “Get out of their minds and into their life,” for the past 13 years.
My goals for you
Is to work with the client and develop a plan that will help you to move from where you are to where you want to be. We will work together to define your goals and to ensure that the goals are doable and can be accomplished in a timely manner. The ultimate goal of therapy is to help the client develop the skills, techniques, and confidence needed to navigate their life so that each client can get out of their mind and into their life by making healthy choices.
My first session with you
Our first session together is all about you, getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and your expectations of your therapeutic process. I will share briefly about who I am and what you can expect from me as your therapist. One of the goals for the first session is also the process of building rapport and answering any questions that you may have.
