I graduated from Indiana University in 2018 with a Master of Social Work Degree. I am an adoption-competent Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana and in Texas with over twenty years of experience working in social services and four years of counseling experience.
My approach
In session I take a client centered approach, believing that the client is the expert in their own life. I am here to support the client and to help along their journey. During therapy I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and challenges with self-harming.
My communication style
I take a laid-back approach and try to create an atmosphere that is non-threatening and non-judgmental. My goal is to provide clients with a safe space and support where they can start their healing journey, grow and become a better version of themself.
My journey to therapy
My journey of becoming a therapist began after working in the social work field for over 20 years. I am also an adoptive parent who struggled with finding a therapist for my daughter who she could connect with. After my daughter graduated high school, I decided if I wanted to see change, I needed to be the change. I went back to school and earned my MSW in 2018 from Indiana University. I have training in Motivation Interviewing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and Adoption Competency.
My goals for you
I believe progress is different for each individual client. During our first session, the client and I set goals together based on what they would like to accomplish in therapy. Throughout our journey together, we continually reevaluate the goals to make sure they are being met and that the client is getting out of therapy what they need.
My first session with you
The first session is a time to get to know each other and to develop a road map for therapy.
