I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Virginia since 1989, and Louisiana since 2017. I work from a perspective of mutual respect to treat PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and lifestyle adjustments. My focus is on improving physical and behavioral health. I work with individual clients ages 18 and above.
My approach
I use skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Brief Problem Solving Therapy. We will work together to set your goals and focus on the issues that are most important to you.
My focus
My primary focus is geriatrics, people struggling with chronic physical illness, and bereavement. I also focus on adjustments to aging.
My communication style
I listen attentively and clarify what you are saying by asking questions. I use warmth, honesty, and friendliness to establish trust.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been interested in "what makes people tick." I enjoy helping others and giving back to my community. I started in community college, transferred to a four-year university, graduated, and began to work for a crisis intervention team. After five years, I attended an accelerated graduate program, graduated, and began the licensure process. After completing supervision, testing, and a personal interview, I became licensed. I really enjoy my profession.
My goals for you
I ask clients to identify three issues and concerns. Through discussion, clients are able to set reasonable goals for life improvement.
My first session with you
Session one is for assessment and gathering information. It is also used to establish interaction guidelines, review practice policies and answer any questions the client might have.
