My name is Joseph Autry, and I am an LPC in Virginia. In our first session, we'll discover what your struggles are. From there, we can discover the causes of those struggles and work on the best ways to cope with them.
My approach
I have been working with different types of therapy for 8 years. I will often use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy are forms of therapy I often like to use as well.
My focus
Over the years, I have worked with a wide range of clients through my work as a supervisor of crisis stabilization and services for clients on probation. This has allowed me to work with clients who are feeling depressed and having thoughts of wanting to hurt themselves. I have also worked directly with clients who feel so angry that they want to hurt others.
My communication style
We'll work on a plan to deal with each of those causes and stress. This will help you come out of sessions with a plan for the week. I want therapy to be a safe and healing place which will also help you make your life a more safe and more healing place. We'll work together to make life easier for you.
My journey to therapy
I have always wanted a career where I could be able to help people. Counseling has allowed me to help people with their anxiety and depression on a daily basis. I get up every morning knowing my clients will be able to feel better by the end of treatment.
My goals for you
Each of my clients will work together with me on the goals for treatment. I want you to feel successful in your own treatment. If the goals ever need to change, the client can always let me know, and we will adjust the treatment.
My first session with you
In our first session together, I will get an idea of what is bothering you. We'll run through a list of everything which is causing your anxiety and making you upset. From there, we'll look at all the causes of your stress.
