Hi, my name is Kacie Martin, LCSW. I am a Virginia-based therapist with 10 years of experience working with diverse populations and in diverse settings. My approach to therapy is relaxed and centered around meeting the patient where they are and building on their strengths to improve their lives. I believe that clients are experts on themselves and their own lives and have the capacity to be successful.
My approach
I am very person-centered and strength-based. I utilize solution-focused and positive psychology elements with a sprinkling of CBT/DBT.
My focus
I work with teens and adults with a wide range of concerns including anxiety and depression, issues around food/eating, life transitions, career stress, health issues, and relationship problems.
My communication style
I am relaxed and friendly. I like to incorporate humor when appropriate.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been blessed by encountering many helpers throughout my life who made a big impact, and I want to be that person for others when I can.
My goals for you
I meet folks where they are and really try to hear what they want from therapy and then work with them to come up with a plan on how to get there. I like to build on existing strengths because most people are already doing better than they think!
My first session with you
Lots of questions, just getting to know each other and figuring out if we are a good fit and how I might be able to help. I want to hear what brings them to therapy and what their personal goals are as it relates to their mental and emotional health.
